CHAIRMAN'S MESSAGE

The Three-Week Mark

By Arkansas Democratic Party - Added 14 October 2008

We are officially three weeks from Election Day, and the clock continues to tick. Early voting begins Monday, October 20.

I want to impress upon you how important it is that you talk to your friends and family, your neighbors and carpool buddies, your closest allies and mere acquaintances about the importance of this election. We need every last Arkansas vote we can get to put our country back on the right path.

The staff and I continue to travel the state, opening county headquarters, speaking at events and rallies, and talking to the press about this critical election. This Saturday, October 18, I'll be at events in North Little Rock and in Mena. In the evening, I will speak at a GOTV rally at the City Park in Mena. Earlier in the day, Senator Mark Pryor and I will speak at the Young Democrats of Arkansas's Presidents' Celebration Brunch. The details are in this week's edition of the DPA HOTLINE. I hope you can join us in supporting our next generation of Democrats.

We had an amazing rally last Friday with Senator Hillary Clinton. I hope you were among the 3000 people who came to support Senator Barack Obama and the entire Democratic ticket. I want to take a moment to remind you of some of the things that were said at the rally by Senator Clinton and others.

We have a responsibility to our fellow Arkansans to get out and vote, but we must do more. While it is important to attend events, and show your support through t-shirts, signs, bumper stickers, and buttons, they mean nothing if you do not exercise your right to vote on Election Day.

However, it is important that you do more than vote. Call everyone you know and encourage them to support Democrats. Remind people of all the critical issues that will be influenced by the next president. Give people rides to the polls. Encourage people to vote early. Volunteer to make phone calls or go door to door. Support your local Democrats running for county office or for the State Legislature. There are countless ways you can influence the outcome of this election.

Please think about how you will feel on Wednesday, November 5, the day after the election, if you wake up to a McCain victory versus how you will feel to wake up to an Obama victory. I hope the difference in those two feelings is powerful enough to get you to do all you can for the next three weeks to ensure that we carry Arkansas for Barack Obama and Democrats all the way down the ticket.

Sincerely,

David Pryor
