CHAIRMAN'S MESSAGE

Less Than One Week To Go

By Arkansas Democratic Party - Added 29 October 2008

In less than one week, the 2008 election will be complete. We will have chosen the next president of the United States, we will have determined Democratic proportion within the U.S. House and Senate, and we will know who will represent our communities in the Arkansas Legislature and county courthouses.

This is the most critical time of our election season. This is not the time to relax, it is the time to put all you have into the political process.

We have seen outstanding turnout during early voting this year. As of 3 p.m. on Tuesday, October 28, 200,784 Arkansans had taken advantage of the opportunity to vote early. We are so pleased with the turnout and know that it bodes well for Democratic candidates.

If you have not voted yet, please do so as soon as possible. As you know, life can get pretty harried. A day that you think is going to be calm can suddenly turn hectic, and before you know it the day is gone. Don't let this happen to you on Election Day. Vote early!

Another advantage to voting early is that you can help others exercise their right to vote on Election Day. If you have already done your civic duty and made sure that you have cast your vote for the Democratic ticket, then you will have time to help your friends and neighbors do the same. You can volunteer to help your favorite candidate by providing rides to the polls or by providing visibility or by calling Democrats to remind them to vote.

You have heard many people say that this is the most important election of our lifetime. This is no exaggeration. It is vitally important that you vote, and then do all you can to get others to do the same.

We have only six days to make sure that the next four years are better than the previous eight. Buckle down and keep working hard for one more week.

Vote for the entire Democratic ticket. Call everyone you know and encourage them to support Democrats. Remind people of all the critical issues that will be influenced by the next president. Give people rides to the polls. Encourage people to vote early. Volunteer to make phone calls or go door to door. Support your local Democrats running for county office or for the State Legislature. There are countless ways you can influence the outcome of this election.

Keep up the good work. We're almost there!

Sincerely,

David Pryor
