Arkansas Democrats Launch Eviction Moratorium Hotline & Info Campaign

Arkansas Democrats Assisting Renters During COVID Eviction Moratorium

LITTLE ROCK — The Democratic Party of Arkansas, the Young Democrats of Arkansas, and members of Arkansas Renters United announced a new push to ensure that Arkansas families have access to the information they deserve during the CDC’s Eviction Moratorium. The effort includes the launch of a new hotline 501-647-1051 for renters to get connected to the information they need.
Unfortunately, the state government led by Governor Asa Hutchinson has failed to inform Arkansas renters about their options and access to valuable federal assistance in preventing unfair, COVID-related evictions. The DPA held a press conference to announce details on Thursday in Little Rock.
Democratic Party of Arkansas Chairman Michael John Gray
“The Democratic Party of Arkansas is here to help. Arkansans who are doing their best to come up with the rent are taking a blow with this COVID pandemic. We are getting out there to connect and provide Arkansas families with the information they need, while others aren’t.”
Young Democrats of Arkansas, Vice-President of Colleges Billy Cook
“This effort is necessary, and something we can all be a part of. Our organization has helped contact hundreds of Arkansans, who would have otherwise not received any notice about the CDC moratorium on evictions. It shouldn’t have to be this way, but it’s been up to us to reach out to Arkansans during this crisis. Arkansans are resilient and deserve this support.”
So far, efforts have resulted in more than 14,000 homes receiving information, with direct interventions in more than 130 cases.
