Democratic Party of Arkansas Takes Steps to Address COVID-19

Health officials have made it clear that the best response to the spread of COVID-19 is to follow some simple best practices about minimizing contact and exposure. The Democratic Party of Arkansas is doing its part by having staff work remotely, and is currently working with Democratic National Committee and the Association of State Democratic Committees to develop guidelines for party and electoral organizing and events.

“It’s important that we take this seriously, while at the same time remaining level-headed,” said DPA Chairman Michael John Gray. “We have important work to do over the next few months, including our delegate selection process for the Democratic National Committee Convention in Milwaukee. We are committed to ensuring these vital tasks can be carried out in the most responsible manner possible.

“We are not helpless in these times, and we must be committed to being non-political in our solutions. A majority of the U.S. House supports passing measures for emergency paid sick leave and free and accessible testing. We need to make sure that our U.S. Congressional delegation supports these solutions for Arkansas.”

The DPA will provide further updates on delegate selection and the upcoming State Committee meeting next week.
