Ethics Complaint Filed Against State Rep. Jim Sorvillo

LITTLE ROCK —  An ethics complaint has been filed with the Arkansas Ethics Commission against State Rep. Jim Sorvillo for reporting a prohibited campaign contribution from a corporation. Sorvillo’s Pre-Election Report lists a prohibited corporate contribution from Arkansas Surgical Hospital ($300) made on 10/16/20.

“Rep. Sorvillo has been in the Legislature long enough to know whether or not he’s following the rules. This is just one more example of Jim Sorvillo’s aloofness when it comes to serving the people of west Little Rock,” said D.P.A. Chairman Michael John Gray.
Mr. Sorvillo reports that his campaign for House District 32 has accepted a contribution from a corporation. This appears to violate campaign finance rules prohibiting such contributions as outlined in A.C.A. § 7-6-203 and by the Arkansas Ethics Commission, “It shall be unlawful for a candidate for public office or for any person acting on the candidate’s behalf to accept a campaign contribution from a prospective contributor other than an individual, political party, county political party committee, legislative caucus committee, or approved political action committee” (pg. I 0, Rules on Campaign Finance and Disclosure).
