Arkansas Democrats are responding to Gov. Sanders’ press conference this morning, boasting about Arkansas’s ranking as the “most pro-life state.”
Arkansas Democrats Spokesperson Micah Wallace said:
“It’s just immoral to stand behind a podium and brag about our meaningless designation as Most Pro-Life state when 1 in 4 Arkansas children go to bed hungry at night. Did the Governor consider that our maternal mortality rate is double the national average, and 94% of those deaths are preventable? And that’s according to the Arkansas Maternal Mortality Review Committee.
Let’s get real: there’s nothing pro-life about forcing women to give birth, especially when we know some of those new moms will die totally unnecessarily. And there’s nothing pro-life about letting innocent children suffer and starve. Arkansas deserves more than press conference publicity stunts. We deserve better.”
