Longtime former State Senator Bobby Glover of Carlisle passed away on Wednesday at the age of 85. He served Arkansas as a mayor, state representative, state senator and vice chairman of the Board of Corrections, among his other pursuits and callings.
Statement by Grant Tennille, Chair of the Democratic Party of Arkansas, on the passing of Bobby Glover:
“Bobby Glover was elected Mayor of Carlisle in 1963, and continued to serve his fellow Arkansans for 58 years, including 28 years as a State Legislator and 10 years as a member of the Board of Corrections. He was a tireless champion for rural communities, a tough negotiator and a fearless advocate for the causes he supported. His mailing address has always been ‘P.O. Box 1, Carlisle, AR,’ which always seemed to me to be a perfect explanation of who he was as a person and a leader.”
