Nearly twice as many young Arkansans have early voted compared to the previous midterm
LITTLE ROCK — Through eight days of early voting, Arkansans have cast 368,897 ballots, up 20% from 306,411 at the same point in the 2022 midterm. That’s 40% of the 914,227 ballots cast in the entire 2022 general election.
One in five of the state’s 1,845,417 registered voters has already voted, and every day of early voting so far has topped the matching day in 2022. Early voting continues through Monday, Nov. 2, and Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Arkansas Democrats Chair Col. Marcus Jones (Ret.) said:
“More than 368,000 Arkansans have already voted. That’s 20% more than at this point in 2022. People are fed up with paying more for groceries and power bills while the Republicans in charge take care of their donors. If you haven’t voted yet, you’ve got until Monday to vote early, and polls are open 7:30 to 7:30 on Election Day.”
Compared to the previous midterm, Arkansas is seeing the following increases:
- Early voting among voters under 35 is up 52%, from about 24,600 ballots to 37,600.
- Early voters 18 to 24 are up 80%, from about 8,000 to 14,400.
- Black early voting is up 49%, from about 29,900 ballots to 44,600. Black voters now cast 12% of the state’s early vote, up from 10% in 2022.
- Hispanic early voting is nearly four times what it was in 2022, from about 2,000 ballots to 7,600.
- Early voting among infrequent voters, who cast a ballot in one or none of the last three general elections, is up 30%, from about 27,500 ballots to 35,800.
- Early voting is up in all four congressional districts, led by the 3rd District, up 30% from 74,530 ballots to 96,769, and the 2nd District, up 29% from 89,772 to 116,079.

Early voting is also up from 2022 in four regions of the state:

- South Arkansas: 30,902 early ballots, up 17% from 26,329.
- The Delta: 27,470 early ballots, up 14% from 24,126.

Figures are early votes and absentee ballots through Tuesday, Oct. 27, compared to the same period of voting in 2022. Age, race, ethnicity and voting history are estimates based on internal data from the party’s voter file, and counts for those groups are rounded to the nearest hundred. Northwest Arkansas is Benton, Washington, Carroll and Madison counties. Central Arkansas is Pulaski, Saline, Faulkner, Lonoke, Perry and Grant counties. The Delta is Arkansas, Chicot, Crittenden, Cross, Desha, Jefferson, Lee, Lincoln, Mississippi, Monroe, Phillips, Poinsett, St. Francis and Woodruff counties.
