LITTLE ROCK— Arkansas Democrats are releasing the following statement after Gov. Sanders issued an updated proclamation with legally appropriate dates for the House District 70 and Senate District 26 Special Election.
Arkansas Democrats Chair Col. Marcus Jones (Ret.) said:
“This proclamation achieves the goal of our lawsuit – to ensure the 30,000 Arkansans in House District 70 have representation. This is a huge win for democracy and for representation in Arkansas.
Pulaski County Election officials have previously confirmed they are ready and can assure a secure and fair election.
While the Democratic Party of Arkansas is fighting for Arkansas voters, the Governor has fought tooth and nail to impose taxation without representation from Charleston to North Little Rock. Arkansans have had enough. The Governor thinks she knows better than everyday voters, our courts, and our Constitution. We’ll see about that at the ballot box.”
