Karyn Coleman - Chief of StaffKaryn is a native of Des Arc, AR located in the Arkansas Delta. She holds a Bachelors of Business Administration in Organization Management from Philander Smith College and has over ten years of experience in management, budgeting, and operations. Karyn is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc, Little Rock Alumnae Chapter, where she serves as an undergraduate chapter advisor on the campus of Philander Smith College. She is a graduate of Leadership Greater Little Rock Class XXXIII, a member of the Board of Directors for Better Community Development, Inc. and she serves on the City of Little Rock’s Community Housing Advisory Board. She and her husband Kenyen have one son, Kendill.

John Whiteside - Political DirectorJohn Whiteside is a veteran political and public affairs operative. His first race out of college was working on Mark Pryor’s successful bid to win a U.S. Senate seat by ousting Republican Tim Hutchinson in 2002. He has worked in virtually every campaign discipline: management, media, field, research and finance. Whiteside has worked on races at the Presidential, US Senate, Congressional and Supreme Court level including General Wesley Clark, Senator Mark Pryor, Senator Mary Landrieu, Congressman Brad Carson, and Attorney General Dustin McDaniel. In 2006, Whiteside served as Director of the Arkansas Democratic Party. Under his leadership, Democrats swept all statewide constitutional offices, and gained three additional seats in the State Legislature.John served as the campaign manager for both Joyce Elliott’s race for U.S.Congress and her successful re-election to the State Senate. He most recently served as the Policy Director for the Arkansas Public Policy Panel and oversaw the successful ‘Raise the Minimum Wage' effort for the Arkansas Education Association in the 2014 cycle. His proudest accomplishment has been raising his dog, Virgil Caine.

Reed Brewer - Communications DirectorReed was born and raised in Little Rock and graduated from Hendrix College with an English: Film Studies degree. Reed joins the Democratic Party of Arkansas after managing Democrat Paul Spencer’s Second Congressional District Campaign. Previous to this election cycle, Brewer served as the Social Media Coordinator for KTHV, the CBS affiliate in Little Rock. While in the newsroom there, he planned coverage of the 2016 general election, 2017 inauguration, 2017 state legislative session, and the 2017 executions in Arkansas, in addition to numerous other events throughout the state.

Jacob Kauffman - Deputy Communications Director and Legislative Affairs CoordinatorJacob has the honor of helping get the good word out about the 2018 elections. His background has been rooted in journalism, primarily covering Arkansas politics. He worked for five years at Arkansas's flagship public radio station and had the privilege of providing reporting to National Public Radio, PBS, BBC Radio, and Arkansas's own Nashville News. Jacob is excited to work for some good Arkansas Democrats.

Jasmine Nwokedi - Philander Smith College Fellowship Recipientjasmine Nwokedi grew up in Sherwood Arkansas, a small quaint city on the outskirts of Little Rock. She’s currently enrolled at Philander Smith College as a political science major and planing to attend law school and becoming an advocate for prison reform. In addition to her position at the State Party, she holds a variety of positions including president of the local chapter of my sorority, president of the Political Science club, chief of staff of Junior Class Board, and a Social Justice Institute undergraduate fellow.
Joshua Hood - High School Fellowship Recipientjoshua Hood is currently Senior High School student at Mills University Studies High, where he is a member of FBLA and a participant in Basketball and Golf as extracurricular activities and maintains a 3.0+ GPA. Joshua has worked with multiple leadership groups, including the A.S.C.E.N.D program, youth ministry leadership with Youth Pastor Justin Bilson, and Foreign Ministry Mission Trips with St. Mark Baptist Church. Joshua has also had work experience in retail and interacting with customers. Joshua manages to balance his busy schedule between working, school, and home responsibilities including his younger sister Sydni, and his two dogs Harley and Rue.
